Get Involved

Celebrate International Women's Day at your school

If you believe that women should earn the same amount as men, should be able to attend school, work and play like boys, and should live lives free from violence, we need your support.

UN Women Australia invites all students and teachers to get involved in International Women’s Day to help us raise awareness about the important differences which still exist between girls and boys.

Gender inequality has a real impact on young people. Women’s inability to access education, employment and health services places a real strain on the lives of young women and children. UN Women Australia believes that positive change will only come about if young people are informed and engaged.

This Internaional Women's Day we are calling on all schools to organise fundraising events and activities to support women in the Pacific to be safe while they are working.

For many women, working in the marketplace is their sole source of income for their families – yet they face violence and discrimination while working. These women are charged illegal fees by the people who run the markets which often mean they don’t have the funds to feed their children.

We are also developing a Schools Kit for you to use in your class and with your friends.  It will be available online soon!
